How to rename a Bluetooth Device [Windows/Android/iOS and More]

Today, we are going to guide you on how to rename a Bluetooth device on different operating systems.

To rename a Bluetooth device on Windows:

  1. Open the Settings app by pressing the Windows key + I on your keyboard.
  2. Click on “Devices.”
  3. In the “Bluetooth & other devices” section, find the device you want to rename and click on it.

  1. Click on the “Rename” button.
  2. Enter a new name for the device and click “Save.”

Alternatively, you can also rename the device from the Device Manager.

  1. Press the Windows key + X on your keyboard and select “Device Manager”
  2. Locate the device you want to rename, right-click on it and select “Properties”
  3. Click on the “Details” tab
  4. Select “Device Description” from the Property drop-down menu
  5. Click on the “Edit” button to rename the device
  6. Click “OK” to save the changes

To rename a Bluetooth device on macOS:

  1. Open the System Preferences app by clicking on the Apple logo in the screen’s top-left corner, then selecting “System Preferences.”

  4. Click on the “-” (minus) button below the list of devices to remove the device.
  5. Click on the “+” (plus) button to add the device back again.
  6. When prompted, enter the new name for the device and click “Continue.” The device will now appear in the list with the new name.

Note: The steps may vary slightly depending on your version of macOS. Also, remember that renaming the device on your macOS may not reflect the change in the device itself, it will only change the name on your device.

To rename a Bluetooth device on Android:

  1. Open the Settings app on your Android device.
  2. Scroll down and tap on “Connected devices.”
  3. Tap on “Pair new device”
  4. Tap on the device you want to rename.
  5. Tap on “Settings”
  6. Tap on the “Device name”
  7. Enter a new name for the device and tap “OK.”

  1. Click on the settings icon in the bottom right corner of the screen.

  6. Click on “Rename”
  7. Enter a new name for the device and click “Save”

  1. Open Chrome browser on your Chromebook.
  2. Type chrome://settings/bluetoothDevices in the address bar.
  3. Find the device you want to rename, click on the 3 dots on the right side of the device
  4. Click on “Rename”
  5. Enter a new name for the device and click “Save”
