So users who are facing trouble with using a keyboard to provide required input should be very frustrated by this issue. As it doesn’t allow them to be productive or use browsers, as preffered.

I have written some solutions to help Windows users, get rid of software side issues that can trigger the Keyboard Not Working issue. So before proceeding any further, ensure that your keyboard doesn’t have any hardware faults. If you have another computer nearby, try connecting the keyboard with it, to check its working status.

Disable Filter Keys

The purpose of Filter keys is to help a user improve writing/typing speed. This feature is meant to help individuals command the computer to ignore any repeated keystrokes. So if you are just experiencing a normal glitch while typing, you should first consider disabling filter keys.

1. Launch the Control Panel using the search bar.

2. Navigate to Ease of Access.

3. Click on Change how your keyboard works.

4. Uncheck the Filter Keys box and save changes.

Update Keyboard Drivers

Normally, the software side issues are caused due to outdated drivers. So you need to consider the possibility that the keyboard drivers are outdated. You can update the drivers manually or automatically, as you prefer to do so.

1. Launch the Device Manager.

2. Expand Keyboards.

3. Right-click on a keyboard device and select Update Driver.

4. On the next window, select Search for drivers automatically.

5. After successfully updating the drivers, restart your computer.

Turn Off Fast Startup

In my opinion, using Fast Startup has its perks. It does help you boot Windows OS fastly, but it also prevents your PC from a regular shutdown, resulting in, you start facing compatibility issues like Keyboard Not Working. So it would be best to keep it turned off for now.

1. Open the Control Panel.

2. Navigate to Hardware and Sound.

3. From the left pane, click on Choose what the power buttons do.

4. Click on Change settings that are currently unavailable.

5. Uncheck the Fast Startup box and save changes.

Modify Power Management

For users facing Keyboard Not Working on Windows PC, customization in power management is recommended. Because whenever their laptop goes to the power saving mode, some services like the external devices stop working.

2. Expand the Universal Serial Bus controllers section.

3. Right-click on a USB hub and select Properties.

5. Uncheck Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power.

6. Save changes and restart your computer.

Install Wireless Keyboard Drivers

Some computers don’t automatically install the drivers of wireless keyboards. In that case, a user has to command their devices to automatically install the required drivers, and keep them updated.

2. Type Control Printers inside the box and click on Enter.

3. Right-click on Keyboard and select Properties.

4. Navigate to the Services tab.

5. Check the Drivers for keyboard, mice, etc (HID) box and save changes.
