Here’s a thing that you all don’t know. Windows 10 Pro and Windows 10 Home have many differences and Group Policy Editor is one of them. Windows 10 Home Edition doesn’t come with Group Policy Editor, Yes it is the truth, believe me not any of the Windows Home version comes with Group Policy Editor.
It doesn’t matter you are running Windows XP, Windows 7, Windows 8.1, or Windows 10.

So the first thing you should check when you get the gpedit.msc not found error, is your Windows 10 edition. If you are using Windows 10 Home Edition you are not in luck.
But, A Happy But this time. In this article, we will tell you all the possible methods or tricks, guides etc to Install the Group Policy Editor for Windows 10 Home edition.
Download and Install GPEdit.msc in Windows 10 Home:
Step1: First you need to download the GPEdit enabler script from the following link.
Step2: Once you have downloaded the GPEdit-enabler.bat file on your PC. Right Click on it and select Run As Administrator.
Step3: A Installation process will start and you will see Windows Command Prompt Windows. This process can take some time depending on your system performance.
Step4: When the installation is completed, press any key to continue. Now there is no need to restart but I will recommend that you should do it.
How to open the group policy editor after installing:
This is It the moment of the truth, will it work? Cause if it doesn’t you would be very angry right? Well, you will be glad to know that it works 100% as I have tested it. You can say by install GPEdit.msc Enabler you can Fix gpedit.msc Not Found on Windows 10 Home Edition.

All I Did is, I downloaded the GPEdit enabler script and installed it and the result is as follows.

See it works, you should try to and fix GPEdit.msc Not found error. But there is more, I have read on many forums that after installing gpedit.msc enabler they were happy that now Group Policy Editor is opening for them.
However, they were unable to edit anything. Most of the settings in Group Policy Editor were not working on Windows 10 Home Edition. So, it seems we are still standing at the start. Let’s dig deeper.
First, we tried installing GPEdit.msc enabler and it allows you to open the GPE but you cannot do anything. Now we will proceed with the Installation of GPEdit Installer and we will enable Group Policy Editor in Windows 10 Home.
Enable Group Policy Editor in Windows 10 Home using GPEdit Installer:
Step1: First, we need to download the GPEdit.msc Installer from the following link.
Step2: Once downloaded, run it as Administrator and let the process finish. After the installation is finished, press any key to close the Windows.
Step3: Restart your PC.
There you go, now keep one more thing in mind if you are running 32-bit Windows (x86) then you are good to go. All the installation processes will go on smoothly. However, If you are running Windows 64-bit (x64) then you have to do some extra steps once the GPEdit.mcs installation is finished.
Enable gpedit Windows 10 Home 64-bit (x64):
Heed the instructions below:
- Go to C:\Windows\SysWOW64 folder
- Copy the following folders and files from C:\Windows\SysWOW64 to C:\Windows\System32
“GroupPolicy“, “GroupPolicyUsers” and gpedit.msc.
Fix MMC cannot create a snap-in:
This a common error that users face when they are trying to start gpedit.msc. I have found a potential fix for MMC cannot create a snap-in error. Heed the instructions below.
- First, head over to the C:\Windows\Temp\gpedit\ folder. If you are unable to find it, create one make sure to use the same path.
- Now download the following file and Unzip it in the C:\Windows\Temp\gpedit\. You will be notified that two files are replaced.

- Once you have downloaded the file and extracted it in the correct folder. Running the batch files as per your system preference. For 32bit you will run x86 and for 64bit you will run x64.
