First launched in 2007 and every year, every new model break records of previous ones.

The Evolution of iPhone – Every Model from 2007 to 2022

From the first iPhone to the date, the iPhone evolution is so interesting, quick, innovative, premium, and luxurious.

Today we will see the history of the iPhone and how they change over time. Also, see the list of all iPhone models from 2007 to 2022

iPhone: June 29, 2007

The Apple legacy started on 29 June 2007 when the first-ever iPhone was launched. The touchscreen phone!

16 GB is all you could put on the original iPhone first model? Granted, there wasn’t nearly as much data to put on the iPhone yet and certainly no App Store. It could only handle 128 MB of memory.

Every Phone Model

The camera was 2.0 megapixels laughing our right now—so, terrible. But a phone with a camera!

iPhone 3G: July 11, 2008

The iPhone 3G wasn’t much different than the original iPhone. This iPhone got its moniker for its 3G connectivity, which meant access to the internet you could actually use without wanting to throw the iPhone across the room. This was the first phone which supports 3G.

iPhone 3GS: June 19, 2009

for the first time ever Apple introduced iPhone 3GS With many 32 GB storage options for the iPhone 3GS, dApp Store changed things quickly. Between photos, music, and apps.

16 GB just wasn’t going to cut it. The camera got an upgrade to 3 MP and added video recording.

I think this was the first Apple phone with Siri maybe if I am not wrong.

iPhone 4: June 24, 2010

iPhone 4 was the first iPhone to have a Selfie camera, it was a record-breaking release in the technology world. The iPhone 4 also got a Retina display. With 512 MB memory, it was equipped to handle a lot more than even the iPhone 3GS, which only had 256 MB of memory.

This is the last Apple Phone in the life of the legendary and most visionary personality in technology – Steve Jobs (Founder of Apple).

iPhone 4S: October 14, 2011

This was the phone that set the world record and made Apple the best smartphone manufacturer.

The camera went from 5 MP to a whopping 8 MP. Apple also introduced the 64 GB storage option but kept the memory at 512 MB.

In just one week after its launch, Apple sold 4 million iPhone 4S units globally.

iPhone 5: September 21, 2012

Breaking their own record of most sold phones, Apple sold 5 million units of the iPhone 5 in its first week. Memory was boosted all the way up to 1 GB. The iPhone 5 had LTE connectivity. Apple also introduced the Lightning connector with the iPhone 5. All previous generations’ displays were 3.5 inches, but the iPhone 5 was 4 inches.

Most hateable iPhone model for me because I was just tired of tiny screens.

iPhone 5s & iPhone 5c: September 20, 2013

Again small size scenes!

iPhone 5S and 5C, are the pinnacle of Apple. The iPhone 5S is probably the most sold Apple device ever.

For the first time ever, fingerprint unlocking was introduced in iPhone models.

Every Phone Model

Between the iPhone 5s and the iPhone 5c, Apple sold nine million units in the first week of sales. 5S holds the most share in sales for Apple. On the other hand, 5C was so popular but less sold due to its plastic bodies.

Dual flash, and slow-motion video. Plus, it included the M7 motion coprocessor and much more.

iPhone 6 & 6 Plus: September 19, 2014

S became the luckiest Alphabet for iPhone at that time. Because there was a huge demand for S Models in public. On the other hand, Apple was facing a bad response base variant. The iPhone 6’s internal specs were very similar to those of the iPhone 5s.

Apple sold 10 million units in the first week.

Finally, Apple took the step to make larger screen size phones which they showed in 6Plus. iPhone users also got the 128 GB storage option for the first time.

iPhone 6s & 6s Plus: September 19, 2015

Apple upgraded the iPhone 6s quite a lot but the looks remain 100% the same as of the iPhone 6. The camera made a huge impact from 8 MP to 12 MP. 2 Gigs of RAM in a phone!! that was a major blow at that time.

After the iPhone 6 had some bending issues, I paid 100$ to bear the loss of bending the phone.

iPhone 7 & 7 Plus: September 16, 2016

7Plus was the most loved Apple iPhone ever. Because Apple Finally started to make large size phones like Samsung was doing.

Apple brings a lot of memory and storage options in the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. The base models starting at 32 GB of storage and going up to 256 GB.

A new shiny Jet Black color, people went mad at it.

iPhone 7 Plus proved to be more popular due to its new dual camera with improved zoom feature possible, and Portrait Mode, which let iPhone 7 Plus users take impressive photos using Depth of Field.

iPhone 8 & 8 Plus: September 22, 2017

I think these are the least popular models of iPhones. I saw everyone switching from iPhone 7 Plus direct to the iPhone X.

iPhone 8 and 8 Plus sales were not impressive even with the wireless charging support being added.

The camera was awesome, with upgraded tools for editing and filtering our images. Apple Stepped into the Wireless ecosystem with this model.

iPhone X: November 3, 2017

The Phone that changed the dimension of Apple Phones. iPhone X and next X models were so famous that even Android lovers praised thee. It was launched at the completion of the iPhone Decade. After 10 years the special card was thrown on the market.

The iPhone X included an extra front-facing camera that let us take amazing selfies in Portrait mode.

iPhone XS & XS Max: September 21, 2018

My most favorite iPhone Model ever and one of my all-time favorite smartphones –  iPhone XS Max .

iPhone XS Max is still the hottest running item of the market. The most complete iPhone model ever built.

Both models had a front-facing camera for Portrait-mode selfies. All looked great with the Super Retina HD display.  the A12 bionic chip increased the processing power while decreasing battery drain.

iPhone XR: October 26, 2018

iPhone XR was the badly failed model of the iPhone. Infact it is one of the worst failures in smartphones like the Nokia Lumia.

Literally, no one was desperate for iPhone XR even though the price is cheaper compared to companion models.

XR was a total flop and that’s what we all can say about this Phone.

iPhone 11: September 20, 2019

The iPhone 11 was the least expensive model of Apple’s annual line at the time. It features a 6.1-inch Liquid Retina display and comes in six crisp colors.

Like Apple’s history, this Apple iPhone 11 base model got less attention as compared to the 11 Pro and 11 Pro Max.

Both cameras are 12 MP and offer wide and ultra-wide lenses.

iPhone 11 Pro: September 20, 2019

iPhone 11 Pro was perfect with the 5.8-inch Super Retina XDR display was Apple’s most crisp and clear to date. The first time ever Apple iPhone featured not two, but three, 12 MP HDR camera lenses, offering wide, ultra-wide, and telephoto lenses.

iPhone 11 Pro Max: September 20, 2019

The king of its time – Apple iPhone 11 Pro Max. Inspite of Apple’s largest and most expensive phone of 2019 it was sold more than other models.

evolution of iPhone

The display was Apple’s Super Retina XDR, as with the 11 Pro, but sized at 6.5-inches. Featured the same, three-lens camera setup as the 11 Pro, as well as the same color choices, making size nearly the only difference between the devices.

iPhone SE (second generation): April 24, 2020

iPhone SE models are for those Apple lovers who can’t afford the flagships. It is the mod range device of Apple.

The evolution of iPhone

But for me, this is the dumbest idea of Apple. Who will pay more than 400 dollars just for this single-camera crappy-looking phone? You get a premium Samsung, One Plus device at this cost.

You can say this device was a mixture of the iPhone 7 Body and iPhone X Soul.

iPhone 12 mini: November 13, 2020

This mini is not so mini when it comes to price. This iPhone 12 mini was a surprisingly small yet powerful addition to the iPhone family.

Reminding us of the time of the iPhone 5. This thin and incredibly light smartphone measured just 5.4 inches and included the new, powerful A14 Bionic chip

Apple’s latest Super Retina XDR OLED display and a host of camera upgrades, but still came with a dual-lens arrangement.

The battery was the worst factor of this iPhone 12 Mini.

iPhone 12/12 Pro: October 23, 2020

This mid-variety version additionally covered the dual-lens digital digicam, which became right sufficient for regular users. However, Apple did consist of a few stunning enhancements to their higher-cease iPhone 12 Pro and Pro Max telephones for people who selected their iPhones for their Camera specs,

The nicest Blue Color I have ever seen on Smartphones.

iPhone 12 Pro Camera bump some very fancy pair of cameras with color upgrades as compared to the 12 and the 12 minis, but came in the same 6.1-inch screen size as the iPhone 12 and included all of the baselines features present in the budget models.

Both iPhone 12 Pro models included the fastest aperture ever used in an iPhone. Apple added RAW photos for superior pro editing capability and has included Dolby Vision up to 60 frames per second in the Pro models.

iPhone 12 Pro Max: November 13, 2020

The talk of 2020 even the COVID Pandemic couldn’t stop the sale of the iPhone 12 Pro Max. Even the price tag was so expensive that only richies can afford that. But the number of people who bought 12 Pro Max is simply amazing. How much money do people have to spend on just a phone?

The 6.7-inch Pro Max claimed an 87 percent improvement on the way it functions in low light over the iPhone 11 models and features 5x zoom.

iPhone 13: September 24, 2021

20 percent smaller notch as compared to iPhone 12, accommodated by a new camera layout. It runs on the A15 chip, One of the most powerful smartphone chips.

Battery life is also improved for this model, which was the biggest drawback of iPhones in the past. The color scheme is so beautiful it was available in pink, blue, midnight, starlight, and PRODUCT(RED). A big selling point for the iPhone 13 is the price point.

iPhone 13 mini: September 24, 2021

The iPhone 13 mini runs on Apple’s A15 Bionic chip. Its battery life has improved up to an hour and a half a day over the iPhone 12 mini.

As with other iPhone 13 models, the mini features big camera improvements. Most storage is available on any mini model at a maximum storage capacity of 512 GB. It features the same color options as the iPhone 13 and a starting price of $699 for 128 GB.

iPhone 13 Pro: September 24, 2021

iPhone 13 Pro comes with the 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR display with ProMotion,

It comes with a LiDAR scanner for Night Mode photography and offers a 1 TB model for more storage. It was a big step by Apple that we have never seen before. It is also powered by the A15 chip and comes in silver, graphite, gold, and sierra blue.

iPhone 13 Pro Max: September 24, 2021

iPhone 13 Pro Max offers everything bigger including the camera lenses. The screen is the same size as the iPhone 12 Pro Max: 6.7 inches diagonally.

Chip upgrade to the A15, the iPhone 13 Pro Max also gets an additional GPU, for a total of five. It, too, offers a 1 TB storage capacity option.

Apple Claimed that this phone offers the 28 of battery timing on Video Playback but we all know it is impossible. Because other functions keep running in the background.

Apple Launched the New iPhone 13 Pro max Colour which is very limited and exclusive. Have a look at the Alpine Green iPhone 13 Pro Max.
