Limit Background Processes

A huge load of background processes can lead to lags in Diablo 3. So it would be better to limit the background processes and only keep the ones that are essential to run the OS and game. This action would also improve the game’s performance, even on slower devices.

Right-click on the taskbar and select Task Manager
From the Processes tab, select the ones that are of no use and click on the End Task button.

Run Diablo 3 as Administrator

There’s a possibility that Diablo 3 isn’t getting the right amount of resources required to load multiplayer mode. In such a case scenario, you should try launching the game with administrative rights, so your system doesn’t block its processes.

Right-click on the diablo3.exe file and select Properties
Navigate to the Compatibility section.
Check the “Run this Program as administrator” box.
Click on the Apply >> Ok buttons.

Update Windows OS

Outdated OS can also be a reason why you are unable to play Diablo 3 according to your preferences. Because the updated OS also upgrades the GPU drivers that are required to launch high-end games on PC.

Press Win + I keys to launch the Settings.
Navigate to Windows Update
Click on “check for updates”
In case of a pending update, allow your system to download & install the required files.

Execute SFC Scan

Every Windows OS comes with a built-in troubleshooter that can be executed to help you locate and fix systematic errors. But such a scan is only implemented on the default Windows drive and you have to execute it using the command prompt.

Press Win + S keys from your keyboard.
Type “cmd” inside the search box and click on “run as administrator”
Execute the following command:
- sfc /scannow
Once the scan is completed, allow your system to reboot.

Reinstall Diablo 3

As a last resort, players should consider reinstalling Diablo 3. Because after implying all the aforementioned solutions, it looks like to problem resides within the game files. So they need to perform a clean reinstallation of Diablo 3.
